We've updated the Medicaid Fee Breakdown Sheet removing the Elderly Waiver cap.
Assisted Living Service includes UNANTICIPATED and UNSCHEDULED personal care and support services that are furnished to waiver participants who reside in a homelike, non-institutional setting.
Services are unanticipated, unscheduled, and unpredictable. Unanticipated and unscheduled applies to both personal care and supportive services. Routine services do not meet the definition or intent of AL Service. For example, emptying a member's trash on a daily basis is not unanticipated, unscheduled or unpredictable; neither is it personal care or supportive.
If staff notice the member needs assistance with carrying something to their apartment; staff could offer to assist and use this encounter for the AL Service documentation.
CHECK OUT sample AL Service Documentation under the RESOURCE link (Medicaid Folder).
